GIFT WRAP #4: ASSORTED PAPER GOODS

I am always finding any loose paper goods I have lying around to decorate wrapped gifts.  I love reusing old papers that you might normally discard (which is why I usually save wrapping paper from stores or received gifts to reuse).  Today’s paper goods- tissue paper, doilies, and scrap colored paper.

I have a huge stash of colored tissue paper.  So I cut off several strips and cut up fringes.  I then glued them to the kraft paper wrapped gift and lined them up to create this soft look.

I always pick up doilies when I go to restaurants (after making sure there aren’t any coffee rings on it) and save them for the perfect crafting opportunity.  A doily is the quickest touch that you could add to make a gift festive and pretty.  I just glued one asymmetrically to this wrapped gift, added some red twine, and it just looks like Christmas!

Any colored scrap paper could instantly become a flourish for a wrapped gift.  You can cut out circles, cut strips, any shape could do the trick!  I like that you can make paper look like ribbon, and with just a bit of paper, you really have the freedom to transform any plain gift into a work of art!

For this gift, I added a gift tag from Grey Cardigan (featured on “The Find” here).  I ordered a bunch of gifts from my friend Piper, and she is sending these awesome gift tags out with each order over $50.  The gifts I ordered, I’m still giving away; these gift tags, I’m keeping them myself.

Oh I love the fringed tissue paper! I’ll have to try that for wrapping gifts this year. It’s so pretty–I wonder how my husband would like that, though…:)
